Dr. Adedoyin Ajibike Okupe, a distinguished Nigerian physician and politician, has passed away at the age of 72. His death was confirmed on March 7, 2025, by sources close to his family.

Born on March 22, 1952, in Iperu, Ogun State, Nigeria, Dr. Okupe had a prolific career spanning medicine and politics. He co-founded the Royal Cross Medical Centre in Lagos and served as the National Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC). His political journey included roles as Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan.

In recent years, Dr. Okupe faced significant health challenges. He was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder. In October 2023, his condition necessitated hospitalization and treatment in Israel.

His passing has elicited heartfelt tributes from various quarters. Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, expressed profound personal loss, noting Dr. Okupe’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria and his principled stance during challenging times.

Dr. Okupe is survived by his wife and children. His legacy as a dedicated public servant and medical professional will be remembered by many.
