Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has boldly declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in all elections across Borno State and throughout Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the assertion on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, while addressing thousands of APC delegates and stakeholders during the party’s state congress held at the defunct Kashim Ibrahim College of Education (KICE), Maiduguri.

Governor Zulum described the APC as the “workhorse” of Nigerian politics and said the party is strategically positioned to dominate the 2027 polls.
“Today’s elections have shown that the state operates a unified political system within our party hierarchy,” he said. “There are no divisions among our numerous members in the state. This ushered in a new set of APC executive members in a peaceful and transparent manner at the state and council levels.”

A total of 1,560 delegates participated in the congress, which adopted consensus and elected 38 executive committee members to lead the party for the next four years. The process was chaired by Mr. Jones Erue.
Erue commended the peaceful and transparent emergence of the new executives, describing Borno APC as one of the most united chapters in the country.

Governor Zulum acknowledged the pivotal role played by Vice President Kashim Shettima in building a strong foundation for the party in Borno State. He congratulated the newly elected executives and assured them of full support from the state government.
“All former party executives from the state to the ward level will not be left behind. They will be integrated into our party structure as ex-officio members and assigned other relevant party responsibilities because of their immense contributions,” Zulum added.
He emphasised that the party would only allow capable individuals to lead its affairs.

“We will not permit anyone without the required capacity to take over the affairs of the party. The party will remain resolute under my leadership and, Insha Allah, we shall succeed,” he stated.
The governor also praised members of the Congress Committee for conducting a credible process and thanked delegates for their loyalty and dedication.
APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, confirmed that the adoption of consensus followed wide consultations and was in line with the APC constitution.
Responding on behalf of the new executives, State Chairman Hon. Bello Ayuba expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for his guidance and pledged to lead the party in an accountable and transparent manner.
