The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the planned inauguration of its newly elected state executives following the sudden death of the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

Yesiro, who was elected during the party’s state congress held at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 just hours after the congress concluded.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, confirmed the tragic loss in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday evening. The statement read in part: “The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

“Yesiro’s passing is a painful and tragic loss to our great party at a time when his energy, commitment, and passion for progressive politics were most needed. Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty, and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party.”

Party stalwarts and supporters had gathered at the Lagos APC secretariat in Acme, Ogba, on Thursday morning for the scheduled inauguration ceremony, only to be informed of the postponement as a mark of respect for the deceased.

Following the announcement, party leaders and members left the secretariat to pay a condolence visit to Yesiro’s family.

Some party stalwarts later circulated information indicating that the inauguration has been rescheduled to Friday, March 6, 2026, subject to further confirmation.

The Lagos APC has not yet released an official obituary or funeral arrangements for Karamo Yesiro. Party leaders have described his death as a major loss at a critical time for the chapter’s preparations toward the 2027 general elections.
