Renowned Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, has raised concern over the rising cost of diesel in Nigeria, revealing that the surge in fuel prices has placed enormous financial pressure on his business operations.
The filmmaker made the disclosure in a video that has gone viral on social media, where he expressed sadness over the situation and explained that he now spends about N11 million on diesel every month to power facilities at his film production hub.

According to Afolayan, despite installing solar power at the KAP Film Village and Resort, the facility still relies heavily on diesel to maintain operations.
He explained that the increasing cost of the fuel has made it difficult to sustain the business, noting that he often resorts to buying diesel on credit.

“It’s not sustainable because even the diesel we have been buying was on credit, and when we make small money, we find a way to pay, and sometimes it takes two months to pay and then get another one on credit,” he said.
The filmmaker added that the recent spike in diesel prices from about N995 or N1,000 per litre to over N1,500 per litre has worsened the situation.

Afolayan said the cost of powering his facilities including the Cab Village section of the film resort has become overwhelming, revealing that the business spends roughly N11 million within four to five weeks on diesel alone.
“I have been sad because I can’t cope with the N1,500 per liter of diesel. I can’t even comprehend it because in one of the businesses that we run, Cab Village, we spent about N11 million in four to five weeks,” he lamented.

To address the challenge, Afolayan appealed for financial assistance to enable him upgrade the solar power infrastructure at the facility, which he believes would significantly reduce dependence on diesel.
“We need a loan to upgrade our solar power. So if you can come to our aid, I will really appreciate it,” he added.
