U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared this week that American forces have achieved “total air dominance” in the ongoing war with Iran, while Israel America’s primary partner in the conflict stated it has secured “air superiority” over Iranian skies.
In a joint news conference on Tuesday with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, Secretary Hegseth said U.S. and Israeli fighter jets, bombers and drones are now operating largely uncontested across Iran. The two militaries have struck approximately 7,000 targets in less than two weeks, decimating the Iranian air force, destroying hundreds of missile launchers and air defense systems, and inflicting heavy damage on command-and-control infrastructure.
