The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday paid a high-profile condolence and solidarity visit to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, over the recent wave of insecurity and tragic incidents in the state.
Led by the PDP’s Interim National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, the delegation expressed deep sympathy with the state government and the people of Oyo following a series of kidnappings and loss of lives that have sparked widespread grief across the state.

Speaking during the visit, Turaki SAN conveyed the condolences of the entire PDP leadership and members nationwide. He commended Governor Makinde and his administration for the proactive steps taken so far to tackle the security challenges, while calling on the Federal Government to urgently review the nation’s security architecture.
“We urge the Federal Government to grant more operational powers to Governors at the sub-national level to enable them effectively protect lives and property,” Turaki said.
In his response, Governor Seyi Makinde thanked the PDP leadership for standing by the state during this difficult period.
“You really know your friends when you are in bad times, and you have proven to be our good friends,” Makinde stated.

The Governor assured the delegation that his administration is taking all necessary measures to bring the current situation under control and prevent future occurrences.
“We are taking all necessary steps to conclusively address this particular incident and proactively prevent a recurrence,” he added.
Makinde acknowledged the trauma the incidents have caused but emphasised that the people of Oyo State remain united in the fight against insecurity.
