Mrs. John-Paul is the youngest of five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. She served meritoriously at the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before her voluntary retirement last year. She had relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to join her husband, Mr. John Paul, in the United States.

The family said all relevant security and law enforcement agencies were immediately contacted, and preliminary investigations have commenced. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of the perpetrators.

Adebayo Adelabu and the entire family appealed to members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and refrain from circulating unverified information that may jeopardise ongoing security operations. They also solicited prayers and support from well-meaning Nigerians during this difficult period.

The family urged anyone with useful information to report it promptly to security agencies and pledged full cooperation with authorities.

This latest incident adds to the growing list of high-profile abductions in Oyo State. It will be recalled that over 40 teachers and students were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, during a coordinated attack at Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area. In December 2025, an APC chieftain, Wale Oriade, was also abducted in Ibadan.
