Adeniyi Adeyemi, convener of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has strongly challenged the presidency’s disclaimer distancing itself from the body and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to set up an independent panel to investigate the controversy.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Adeyemi questioned the June 11 statement issued by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, which categorically stated that the PFIPC does not exist under the current administration.

In the statement, Gbajabiamila had warned the public, foreign missions, development organisations, and financial institutions to disregard any claims linking his office or the presidency to the alleged council.
“It has come to the notice of the Federal Government of Nigeria and specifically the Office of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR that a certain Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, under the auspices of an alleged organisation styled as the ‘Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council’ is portraying himself to the general public as having been appointed by my office,” the statement read.
However, Adeyemi insisted that the disclaimer has created more questions than answers, particularly regarding official government records.

Adeyemi queried how the PFIPC allegedly appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Budget (pages 50 and 51) if, according to the presidency, the body does not exist.
“Let’s assume for one second that all what the chief of staff published were right, that the agency does not exist. Then how did the agency’s name get into the 2026 appropriation budget pages 50 and 51?” he asked.
He described the matter as “no longer about personalities” but about resolving glaring contradictions in official records and government processes that demand transparent investigation.

Adeyemi urged President Tinubu to immediately constitute an independent investigative panel to examine all budgetary references, institutional records, and official communications relating to the PFIPC. He said the panel should question relevant officials and make its findings public.
“The purpose is clarity: not denial versus counter-denial. If I am wrong, let an independent process prove it. If Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is right, let it confirm it,” he stated.
The convener also called for a thorough investigation into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, whom he described as an intermediary in the matter, as well as alleged attempts on his own life.

The controversy surrounding the PFIPC has continued to generate public interest, raising questions about accountability, the use of government institutions, and transparency in official appointments and budgetary processes.
The Presidency is yet to issue a further response to Adeyemi’s latest challenge.
