According to a statement issued by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, on Friday, the visit featured “warm exchanges” between the two political heavyweights.

Kwankwaso was accompanied by the NDC Governorship Candidate for Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

The statement did not disclose the specifics of the discussions held during the meeting.

The visit comes at a time of heightened political activities and realignments as major political actors begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While there has been no official indication from either side that the meeting was linked to any formal political alliance or electoral strategy, the engagement between Kwankwaso — a key opposition figure — and Obasanjo, widely regarded as a political statesman, is already generating significant interest within political circles.

Senator Kwankwaso remains a major political force in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Kano, while Obasanjo continues to wield considerable influence in national politics despite retiring from active office.

This latest development is being closely watched as the opposition continues to explore possible collaborations and strategies to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.
