Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully dismantled a roadblock set up by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, rescuing 53 stranded civilians and recovering eight vehicles seized by the insurgents.
According to a statement from the Theatre Command, troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion detected the terrorists’ illegal roadblock through surveillance cameras. A Quick Reaction Force was immediately deployed to the location, leading to a fierce gun battle that forced the insurgents to abandon the roadblock and flee into the bush.

The troops subsequently cleared the area, secured the withdrawal route used by the terrorists, and rescued the 53 civilians who had been held up at the roadblock. Eight vehicles that were seized by the terrorists were also recovered.
The rescued civilians have been evacuated to Buratai for proper documentation, debriefing, and medical evaluation. No casualties were reported among the troops or the rescued civilians during the operation.

The Theatre Command commended the professionalism and swift response of the troops, describing the operation as another significant blow to ISWAP’s activities in the region.
In a statement, the Command urged residents of Borno State to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security forces, emphasising that community cooperation remains critical to the success of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East.
