The Ogun State Executive Council has approved a fresh package of road projects, hospital developments, power investment and the establishment of an MSME agency aimed at accelerating economic growth and improving living standards.

The approvals were decided during the State Executive Council meeting over the weekend and announced to journalists on Sunday, September 13, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade.

The strategic approvals cover four primary sectors.

Transport Infrastructure and Road Reconstruction

The Council approved the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Siun Junction–Iperu Junction Road linking Obafemi Owode and Ikenne Local Government Areas.

It also approved the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Simawa–Lukosi/Ogijo Road in Sagamu.

In addition, funding variations were approved to sustain progress on the Sango Ota–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke Aro–Akute Road (Phase I) and the 69.2-kilometre Abeokuta–Abule Egba Road.

Healthcare Expansion

Approval was granted for the construction of two new General Hospitals to improve healthcare accessibility. The facilities will be located in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, and Aiyepe, Odogbolu Local Government Area.

Power Investment

The Exco approved the state’s active participation in independent electricity generation through Gateway Power Limited. The initiative is aimed at supplying more reliable power to the state’s rapidly growing industrial and commercial hubs.

MSME Support

The Council also approved the establishment of the Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency with a direct mandate to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The agency will coordinate entrepreneurship development and ease access to funding and market opportunities.

Officials said the package of approvals represents a strategic intervention designed to enhance transport logistics, healthcare delivery, power generation and small business financing, while consolidating Ogun State’s position as a premier industrial hub in Nigeria.
