Reps Panel Moves to Arrest FIRS Chairman Over Refusal to Honor Several Invitations

The House of Representatives Ad- hoc Committee Investigating the Structure and Accountability of the Joint Venture (JV) Businesses and Production Sharing Contracts, PSCs, of NNPC has issued a warrant of arrest to Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Muhammed Nami over his alleged refusal to honor appear before it.

Chairman, of the Committee, Hon. Abubakar Hassan Fulata and other members of the panel made the pronouncement on the resumption of the investigative hearing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

The Committee also alleged that FIRS Chairman has taken them for granted as he refused to appear before them and make clarifications regarding allegations of tax evasion by some oil companies.

Remember that the Committee had severally summoned FIRS Chairman, Mohammed Nami before it but he shunned the invitations.

The investigative panel which is currently investigating NNPC joint ventures from 1990 to date had maintained that several oil companies are milking Nigeria dry in the course of operation in Nigeria.

Hon. Mark Gilbilah a member of the Committee had warned oil companies against choosing certain sections of the laws which to obey and those not.
