In a significant move to enhance the welfare and infrastructure of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has commissioned a series of new facilities.

The unveiling which took place on May 20, 2024, coincided with the Diamond Jubilee (60th Anniversary Celebration) of the Nigerian Air Force, marking a significant milestone in its progress towards meeting the defense needs of modern Nigeria.

Among the new projects commissioned are a modern sports complex, a 56-shop mammy plaza, a 40-bed hospital, a fire bay, and a microfinance bank. These additions are in line with Air Marshal Abubakar’s command philosophy of “maintaining a highly motivated force by enhancing welfare and infrastructural renewal.” Additionally, he has successfully secured all landed properties belonging to the Nigerian Air Force.

Air Marshal Abubakar stressed the transformative impact of these projects, not only on the Nigerian Air Force but also on military aviation worldwide.

He noted, “these projects are particularly dear to my heart because the Nigerian Air Force has faced serious accommodation challenges due to our recent expansion in force structure”.

“To align with my command philosophy, I made a commitment to offset as much of the inherited housing deficits as possible, ensuring that our personnel are adequately motivated. This commitment includes providing good medical care and contemporary sporting facilities for personnel and their families.”

He further credited the outstanding infrastructural changes to the leadership of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Air Marshal Abubakar reiterated his administration’s dedication to exhaustively meeting the tasks imposed on the Nigerian Air Force, ensuring that it remains an agile and resilient force capable of effectively addressing national security demands.

The newly commissioned facilities are expected to significantly boost the morale and welfare of Nigerian Air Force personnel, reinforcing the force’s commitment to national security and operational excellence.
