Alaghodaro 2023 Kicks Off Tomorrow, November 8, 2023 with Edo Women’s Conference

The 2023 Alaghodaro Summit, which kicks off tomorrow, November 8, 2023, is an annual event organized by the Edo State Government in collaboration with the private sector.

The summit is held to mark the anniversary of Governor Godwin Obaseki in office and to showcase the progress made in transforming Edo State into an investment-friendly destination.

The theme for this year’s summit is “The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future.”

A four-day activities schedule for the summit as announced by the organizing committee are:

EDO WOMEN CONFERENCE (November 8, 2023): The summit begins with the Edo Women Conference, which is likely to focus on issues relevant to women’s empowerment and their role in the state’s development.

BENIN CITY TOUR AND COCKTAIL (November 9, 2023): Participants can enjoy a tour of Benin City, exploring its cultural and historical attractions. The day will culminate in a cocktail event.

MAIN ALAGHODARO SUMMIT, Muslim Prayers, State Award, and Dinner (November 10, 2023): The main summit takes place, featuring discussions and presentations related to the state’s development. This day also includes Muslim prayers, a state award ceremony, and a dinner event.

GOVERNOR’S GOLF TOURNAMENT, Food Tour, and Youth Concert (November 11, 2023): Participants can engage in the Governor’s Golf Tournament and enjoy a food tour. The day ends with a youth concert, likely featuring entertainment and cultural performances.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE (November 12, 2023): The summit concludes with a Thanksgiving Service, which is typically a religious event expressing gratitude.

Eire Ifueko Alufohai, the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee and Executive Secretary of Alaghodaro Economic Summit Limited/Gte, has assured that this year’s summit will be a memorable event. This edition marks the last to be celebrated under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made during his tenure and the shared opportunities created for the future of Edo State.

According to her, “All is set for the successful hosting of the 2023 Alaghodaro Summit scheduled to take place in Benin City between November 8 and 12, 2023.

“The four-day event will kick off officially tomorrow, November 8, with the Edo Women Conference which will serve as a veritable platform for Edo women to meet, share their experiences, challenges, success stories, and chart a path for sustainable development.

She added, “The Conference will cover a wide range of issues, from women’s participation in politics to entrepreneurship, girl-child empowerment, leadership, and the role of women in societal development. We urge all Edo women to come out and be a part of this very insightful and thought-provoking conversation.”
