The 2023 Alaghodaro Investment Summit in Edo State, Nigeria, is set to showcase the achievements of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration in creating a business-friendly environment that has attracted investments in various sectors.
The summit is organized in partnership with the private sector and will take place from November 8 to November 12, 2023, with the theme “The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future.”
This year’s Investment Summit underscores the commitment of the Edo State government to sustaining and expanding investments, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring long-term prosperity and advancement for the people of the state.
In a statement, the Chairperson, Local Organising Committee and Executive Secretary, Alaghodaro Economic Summit Limited/Gte, Eire Ifueko Alufohai, said the summit would serve as a platform for investors to assess investment opportunities, evaluate their impact on the local economy, and also explore opportunities to expand their investment in the State.
According to her, “Governor Godwin Obaseki, in the past seven years, has been relentless in his pursuit to attract investments to Edo State, focusing on key sectors that have the potential to stimulate economic growth and development and create better opportunities for the people.
“Through nuanced business-friendly reforms and policies, the governor has continued to secure the inflow of private capital into the State’s manufacturing, agriculture, power and petrochemical sectors, among others, to spur growth.
The summit aims to highlight the success of Governor Obaseki’s policies and reforms over the past seven years, which have facilitated investments in sectors such as agriculture, technology, and petrochemicals. The goal is to emphasize the economic growth and development achieved during this period.
The event will serve as a platform for investors to assess the investment opportunities available in Edo State. It will provide them with a chance to evaluate the impact of their investments on the local economy and explore options for expanding their investments in the state.
The governor’s administration has implemented business-friendly reforms and policies designed to attract private capital into key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, power, and petrochemicals. These reforms have led to significant investments in the state.
Notable investments in the state include two modular refineries, the Edo Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP), the Ossiomo Power plant, and two ethanol processing plants, among others. These investments have contributed to the economic development of Edo State.
“These are visible in the numerous investments that dot every nook and cranny of the State, from the two modular refineries in the State, the Edo Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP), and the Ossiomo Power plant, the two ethanol processing plants, among others.”
The summit will feature various activities, including the Edo Women Conference, an Ancient City Tour, a Cocktail event, the main Alaghodaro Summit, Muslim Prayers, an Award and Dinner ceremony, the Governor’s Golf Tournament, a Food Fair, and a Youth Concert. The summit will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service.
“On Friday, November 10, 2023, will be the main Alaghodaro Summit, Muslim Prayers, Award and Dinner, while the Governor’s Golf Tournament, Food Fair and Youth Concert will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The event will end on Saturday, November 12, 2023 with Thanksgiving Service.”
