The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced major adjustments to its internal timeline ahead of the 2027 general elections, extending the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise and rescheduling key party congresses and the national convention.
In a statement released late Friday, January 30, 2026, by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka following the 183rd meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the following resolutions were made public.
Electronic Membership Registration: Extended from January 31, 2026, to February 8, 2026, to allow more supporters and members to register and validate their membership following requests from party stakeholders.
Ward Congresses: Now scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
National Convention: Rescheduled to Friday, March 27 – Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Osun State, Ekiti State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are excluded from the scheduled congresses due to upcoming elections in those areas.
Rivers State is excluded due to the subsisting tenure of the current executive committees of the party in the state.

National Convention Planning Committee: A committee has been duly constituted to oversee preparations. Further details on the adjusted timetable, schedule of activities, and composition of the committee will be announced in due course.
The NWC emphasised that these adjustments are aimed at ensuring a more inclusive, transparent, and credible process for membership validation and party restructuring, which will form the foundation for the APC’s campaigns in 2027.
The electronic registration exercise, launched in late December 2025, is designed to create a verifiable, digital database of members, reduce multiple registrations, and eliminate ghost members ahead of primaries and congresses.
The statement comes amid ongoing internal realignments, high-profile defections, and preparations for what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 presidential race.
