Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have raised serious allegations of distrust and anti-party activities against Governor Ahmed Ododo, accusing him of working in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Yagba Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections.

The APC chieftains claimed that the governor directed his political appointees in Mopamuro Local Government Area to engage in activities supporting Rep. Leke Abejide, the factional leader of the ADC who is reportedly seeking a third term in the National Assembly.

Chief Dayo Michael Adesanya, an APC chieftain from Isanlu, and other party sources in the area alleged that the Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, on the orders of Governor Ododo, instructed appointees to campaign for Abejide.

Adesanya explained that this move contravenes the existing zoning arrangement in Yagba Federal Constituency, which favours Mopamuro Local Government to produce the next federal lawmaker.

Speaking to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Adesanya said the appointees participated in a political walk in support of Abejide, during which participants carried placards and wore caps and T-shirts bearing the images of the governor and the lawmaker, without any identifiable party logo.

“Some APC faithfuls declined participation in the exercise because of concerns over anti-party conduct,” Adesanya said.
He added that those who refused to participate have been instructed to resign or face sack.

Adesanya also revealed that the walk recorded a minor incident, as some participants allegedly fell off a moving vehicle and sustained injuries.

The APC chieftain hinted that the development is shrouded in speculations that Governor Ododo and his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, are considering a possible defection to the ADC due to rumours that Hon. James Faleke may contest the governorship on the platform of the ruling APC.

This, he said, is creating serious tension within the APC in Kogi State.
Adesanya wondered why Abejide, who is still a supposed staunch member of the ADC, has not officially defected to the APC if the governor is truly supporting him within the party.

The allegations have heightened internal divisions in the Kogi APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, with calls for the national leadership of the party to intervene and restore discipline.
