The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as the new Chairman of its National Convention Planning Committee, replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The change was announced in a statement released late Thursday, February 6, 2026, by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka following an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC).
According to the statement, Gov. Hope Uzodimma has been reassigned as Treasurer of the convention committee, while Masari takes over the chairmanship role with immediate effect.
“The NWC, after due consideration and consultation, deemed it necessary to make this adjustment to ensure smooth and effective planning for the forthcoming National Convention scheduled for March 27–28, 2026.”
No further explanation was provided, but party sources indicate the decision was influenced by the need for stronger leadership and logistical coordination, especially given the recent extension of membership registration and ward congresses.

The National Convention is expected to ratify key decisions, including possible changes to the National Working Committee (NWC), adoption of the party’s manifesto for 2027, and election of new principal officers if necessary.
The APC has assured all members that the transition will not disrupt ongoing preparations, including the electronic membership registration (now extended to February 8) and ward congresses (now February 18).
