Arsenal’s title charge has received a massive boost from Opta’s supercomputer, which now gives the Gunners an 86.98% chance of winning the Premier League following Thursday’s tense 0-0 draw with defending champions Liverpool at the Emirates.
The goalless stalemate the first time Arsenal failed to score at home this season combined with dropped points by Manchester City (draw vs Brighton) and Aston Villa (draw vs Crystal Palace), has solidified Mikel Arteta’s side as overwhelming favourites with 17 games remaining.

Arsenal – 86.98% (up from ~85.7% pre-round)
Manchester City – 8.62%
Aston Villa – 4.21%
Liverpool – 0.16%
All others – <0.01%
Arsenal sit top with 49 points from 21 games (W15 D4 L2, GD +26), six points clear of both City and Villa on 43 points. Liverpool remain fourth on 35 points, now effectively out of the race according to the model.

The supercomputer, which runs 10,000 season simulations based on current form, remaining fixtures, and historical data, projects Arsenal to finish around the 85-point mark a total that has won the league in 23 of the last 25 Premier League seasons.
Despite the frustration of being held by a resilient Liverpool side whose best chance fell to Conor Bradley hitting the woodwork early on Arsenal’s defensive solidity (now 10 clean sheets this season) and the favourable results elsewhere turned the night into a net positive.
Arteta’s men have lost just twice all season and have taken points from all their toughest fixtures so far.
Next up: FA Cup weekend, before Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest on January 17 in the league. The title race resumes in earnest with the Manchester derby the following day.
