Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the residence of his “brother and partner,” former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, where they held quality discussions on the progress of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the urgent need to restore good governance and national recovery.

In a statement issued after the meeting, Atiku said:
“I paid a courtesy visit to the residence of my brother and partner, His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso, this afternoon. We had quality discussions on the progress of our party, the ADC, and how we must continue the work to ensure good governance and recovery are achieved in good time for the people of Nigeria.”

The meeting comes at a critical time as the ADC continues to attract high-profile defections and position itself as a viable alternative platform ahead of the 2027 general elections. Both Atiku and Kwankwaso have emerged as key figures in the evolving opposition realignment, with many political observers viewing their collaboration as a significant boost to the party’s prospects.

Sources close to the discussion indicated that the two leaders reviewed the party’s organisational strengthening, membership drive, and strategies for presenting a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). They also emphasised the importance of issue-based politics focused on economic recovery, security, and good governance.

The ADC has in recent weeks gained momentum with the entry of several prominent politicians, including Kwankwaso himself, and is increasingly seen as one of the fastest-growing opposition platforms in the country.
