Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has significantly boosted morale among members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state by awarding each corps member a bonus of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) and providing them with a coastal bus vehicle.

Governor Sanwo-Olu announced these incentives on Tuesday, during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course at the NYSC camp in Iyana Ipaja, where 4,277 corps members participated.

In addition to the cash bonus which will credited directly to their accounts by next week, he also, promised automatic employment in the public service for the top 100 corps members after their service year. This initiative aims to recognize their contributions and encourage them to stay and help develop Lagos, reinforcing its reputation as the “Centre of Excellence.”

Moreover, the Governor extended substantial support to the NYSC staff by donating N100 million to them. He also revealed the approval of N5 billion for constructing a permanent NYSC site in the Igando area. To further facilitate the corps’ activities, Governor Sanwo-Olu presented a 32-seater Hyundai bus to the NYSC Lagos office.

Overall, these commendable gestures by Governor Sanwo-Olu underscore his dedication to supporting and encouraging the youth to fully realize their potential for the country’s development.
