Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris has secured a place in the Guinness World Records after an estimated 1.6 million people turned out for his DJ set in São Paulo, Brazil.
The record was officially recognised on September 20, 2026, several months after Harris performed at a free pre-Carnival street event in the Brazilian city on February 8. Guinness confirmed the performance as the largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist.

Harris performed from a carnival float on Rua da Consolação, near Avenida Paulista, turning the busy city route into a huge open-air dance floor. The crowd sang and danced along to some of his well-known songs, including This Is What You Came For, One Kiss, I Need Your Love and We Found Love.
Adding to the Brazilian feel of the performance, Harris wore a Brazilian football shirt with “Calvinho” and the number 00 printed on the back as he performed from the moving float. The event marked his return to Brazil after more than a decade and his first appearance at the country’s Carnival celebrations.
The sheer size of the crowd created challenges for authorities, with Rua da Consolação eventually closed because of overcrowding. Reports also said some fans fainted in the heat, with temperatures reaching about 27°C.

Harris celebrated the Guinness recognition on social media, sharing the certificate and footage from the performance. He described the experience as a “truly insane day” and added that the achievement could only have happened in Brazil.
