Cash Withdrawal Limits: House of Reps Reschedule Meeting with Emefiele

The House of Representatives on Thursday granted the request by the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele to reschedule another day for him to appear and brief lawmakers on the controversial policy on cash withdrawal limits in the country.

Recalled that the CBN Governor was last week summoned by the lawmakers over the policy and recommended that the apex bank suspend the new cash withdrawal policy and appear before it today (Thursday, December 15, 2022) to brief the House the reasons behind the new policy in the country.

But the House on Thursday’s plenary received a letter from the Governor of the Bank that he is part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s delegation to Washington DC and therefore, will not be able to appear before the House for the scheduled briefing on the CBN’s proposed policy on cash withdrawal limits.

Consequently, the briefing has been rescheduled for next week Tuesday, December 20th, 2022.

In another development, a Bill for an Act to Establish National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism for Training, Certification and Registration of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Personnel in Nigeria; and for Related Matters (HB.45) was submitted to the Committee of the Whole.

Again, a Bill for an Act to Provide for Establishment of Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Oka-Akoko and provide for Administration and Discipline of Students of the University; and for Related Matters (HB. 1483) as well as

A Bill for an Act to Establish Federal Infrastructure Rehabilitation Management Agency to be saddled with the Responsibility of Coordinating and Regulating all forms of Federal infrastructural Rehabilitation of Government Properties, Maintenance, Management of Government destroyed properties by Hoodlums, including Repair, Reconstruction of inevitable affected facilities in order to sustain the Master Plan and Provision of Comprehensive Database or capturing of all the destroyed Government Properties and for Related Matters (HB.1682) were all presented to the Committee of the whole.
