The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) has given approval to the Federal High Court of Nigeria to nominate nine applicants for appointment as Judges to its bench.
The fresh permission is in addition to an earlier one in which the court secured approval to get 15 Judges to its bench.
A statement by the Court’s Assistant Director of Information, Catherine Oby Christopher, on Friday, indicated that the nine Judges when appointed would serve in the Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Gombe, Ogun, and Oyo divisions of the Court.
The statement made available to Journalists in Abuja indicated that the Chief Judge of the Court, Justice John Tsoho has asked serving Judges of the Court, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association to nominate suitably qualified persons from the five States for appointment to the Court’s bench.
According to the statement, the nomination must be in compliance with the National Judicial Council Guidelines and Procedural Rules for Appointment of Judicial Officers of Superior Courts.
The statement directed that all recommendations are to reach the Chambers of the Chief Judge on or before 28th February 2023.
