The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Dapo Abiodun have jointly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the visionary Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway project, describing it as a transformative infrastructure legacy that will redefine economic connectivity across the South-South and South-West regions.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting with party leaders in Abeokuta on Thursday, February 11, 2026, Governor Abiodun hailed the 700-kilometre highway as “a bold, audacious and people-centred initiative” that aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“President Tinubu has once again demonstrated uncommon vision and courage by embarking on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway the longest coastal road project in Africa. This road will not only unlock economic potential in Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River, but it will also create thousands of jobs, boost tourism, agriculture and trade,” Abiodun stated.

The governor, who is serving his second term, used the occasion to formally endorse President Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027, urging all party members and Nigerians to rally behind him.

“I stand with President Tinubu. His leadership has brought stability, bold reforms and renewed investor confidence. Ogun State is benefiting immensely from federal projects from rail, roads, power and security partnerships. We endorse him for a second term so that the good work can continue and be completed,” Abiodun declared, drawing applause from the gathering.

The Ogun APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, echoed the governor’s position, describing Tinubu as “the architect of modern Nigeria’s economic revival” and calling on all party faithful to mobilise aggressively for his re-election.

The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, flagged off by President Tinubu in March 2024, is being executed in phases by the Federal Ministry of Works under Minister David Umahi. Phase 1 (Lagos–Ondo) is already at an advanced stage, with significant portions in Ogun State receiving dualisation and expansion.

The endorsement from Ogun APC and Governor Abiodun is seen as a major boost for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, especially in the South-West geopolitical zone.
