Meet Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew—a dynamic duo from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering who have both graduated with First-Class Honors, each earning a staggering CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00. Wow!

But wait, that’s not all—they emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Students of their department and the entire Faculty of Technology for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The inspiring story of the duo is one of Grit, Growth, and Grace. From one level, these brothers set a pace that most only dream of. Let’s see the timeline.

In 100 Level: Matthias – 3.84 | Matthew – 3.89; 200 Level: Matthias – 3.92 | Matthew – 3.94; 300 Level: Matthias – 3.95 | Matthew – 3.93 and final CGPA: 3.94 each!

Through sleepless nights, power outages, limited resources, and the rigors of a tough academic program, they never relented. They challenged each other, supported each other, and grew together—not just as siblings, but as leaders.

Outside the classroom, their brilliance echoed with verifiable testimony. For instance, Matthias served as Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (11th Assembly), showing strong legislative and advocacy skills. Also, Matthew led as President of the Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI), inspiring innovation and teamwork across the faculty.

Their story resonates with the youths as a path for them worth following, as an academic triumph and a beacon of hope to students across Nigeria and beyond. In a world that often feels unfair, these two prove that with consistency, resilience, and self-belief, excellence is still very much attainable.
