She made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the NLC Women Committee to the First Lady’s office at the Edo State Government House in Benin City.
The first lady highlighted that the Congress is a veritable partner in the effective governance of the State, saying, “It’s good to have the leadership of the women of the Nigerian Labour Congress. The Labour Congress all over the world actually determines the pace at which the government goes. The Congress is the hand that nobody sees.
“The Congress is what brings top management to an equilibrium. I want to thank you for doing that and I also know that you’re advocating for the rights of women, because in our places of work, we see that women’s rights are not projected enough. It is important that you do that as a group; mother and child”.
Mrs. Anani assured the guests of the dispositions of the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo to give them the enabling environment to thrive. She advocated for continuous dialogue between government and the Union, saying, “I want to appeal to your leadership that before you think of strike as the last resort, that we come to the table and have a conversation”.
The Chairman of the Union, Mrs. Osabuohien Itohan Philomena, expressed appreciation for the warm reception they were given and also congratulated Mrs. Anani on her new office.
She stated, “We are here to formally inform you of our forthcoming programme and to invite you. We will be delighted to have you in our midst as our special guest of honour.

Whenever there is a programme that concerns the women of the State, we will want you to also be part of it. Another reason why we are here is to solicit funds for our programme”.
