EDSG Initiates Training, Evaluation Program for Workers Eligible for 2022/2023 Promotions

The Edo State Government has initiated a training and evaluation program for public service officers in the state who are eligible for promotions in 2022 and 2023. This initiative aligns with the ongoing efforts to transform the state’s public and civil service.

The two-day training session took place at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City and was aimed at officers between Salary Grade Levels 07 and 16. The Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., addressed the participants during the training and expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring that the state’s civil and public service operates with excellence to provide high-quality services to the people.

The Head of Service emphasized that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration is dedicated to realizing the vision of making Edo State the best place to live and conduct business by the year 2050. He assured the workers that the government is focused on their welfare and stressed the importance of preventing career stagnancy among civil and public officers. Promotion based on merit and performance is a priority for the government.

Okungbowa also expressed confidence in the capacity of the officers to excel in their roles. He commended their swift adaptation to the e-governance policy and the efficiency with which they deliver services. Edo State is positioned as a model and benchmark for other states in terms of e-governance and procurement compliance.

The training and evaluation of officers before promotion has been a longstanding policy in Edo State. The Head of Service encouraged the workers to continue to give their best, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and efficient services to the people of Edo State. This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to the professional development and growth of its civil and public service workforce.
