Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “dead on arrival” and declared that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi “can never be president” of Nigeria.
In a scathing statement issued on Thursday, February 6, 2026, Isaac Fayose described the current opposition landscape as weak, fragmented, and lacking the capacity to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Key excerpts from Fayose’s statement:
“The ADC that some people are hyping is dead on arrival. It has no structure, no funding, no grassroots base. It is just another letterhead party being used to deceive Nigerians.”
“Peter Obi can never be president. The same people shouting ‘Obidient’ today will abandon him when the real battle begins. He doesn’t have the machinery, the war chest, or the ruthless political instinct needed to win in Nigeria.”
“Democracy in Nigeria is sick. The opposition is not opposition—they are just noise-makers. They talk loud but have nothing to show. Tinubu and APC are not perfect, but they understand power and how to keep it.”
“Until the opposition builds real structures, unites behind one candidate, and stops deceiving the youth with empty promises, 2027 will be another walkover for the ruling party.”

Isaac Fayose, who has been vocal in his criticism of both the APC administration and opposition figures, said his brother Ayodele Fayose remains a strong voice in the PDP but shares similar concerns about the weakness of the opposition.
The comments come amid ongoing realignments in the opposition space, including Peter Obi’s defection to the ADC, Governor Abba Yusuf’s move from NNPP to APC, and the PDP’s internal crisis between the Wike and anti-Wike factions.
Political observers note that Isaac Fayose’s remarks reflect a growing perception among some PDP stalwarts that the opposition remains too divided and disorganized to mount a credible challenge in 2027.
