The Edo State Governor has appointed Chief Mrs. Sabina Chikere as Executive Director of Edo State Sports Commission, marking a historic return to the commission where she had worked previously as Permanent Secretary. In her new role, she will oversee the operations of the commission and general sports development in the state. Her appointment was made by Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo on December 18, 2024.

The appointment which was made on December 18, 2024, states that Sabina is bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Her impressive track record, earned during her tenure under former Governor Godwin Obaseki, has earned her the nickname “The Working One”.
Sabina’s responsibilities, apart from coordinating the overall sports enterprise of the state, will include a seamless oversight of state’s sport organs in close collaboration with other board members of the commission which has some notable individuals like Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Baldwin Bazuaye, and Odianose Anthony Ikuenobe, Esq.
The Edo State Sports Commission is prepared for a bright and successful future with Sabina at the helm. In order to create the enable environment for the envisage task, her office is being upgraded with the relevant fittings and fixtures, reflecting her important role.
