Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that President Donald Trump has invited him to visit the White House on February 4, 2025. This visit would make Netanyahu the first foreign leader to meet in person with President Trump after he was inaugurated a few days back for a second term.

Trump previewed the visit on Monday aboard Air Force One while speaking to reporters, saying that he’ll be “speaking with Bibi Netanyahu in the not too distant future.”
The meeting is expected to focus on efforts to bring peace to Israel and its neighbors, as well as strategies to counter shared adversaries.
This announcement comes amid U.S. efforts to maintain a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The ceasefire has allowed displaced Palestinians to return to their homes in northern Gaza, though many are finding widespread destruction and loss. Talks regarding the ceasefire’s second phase, aimed at ending the 15-month conflict, are scheduled to begin on February 3.
The upcoming meeting provides Netanyahu with an opportunity to highlight the support he has received from President Trump and to discuss Israel’s conduct during the war.
Netanyahu last came to Washington over the summer when he addressed a joint session of Congress at the Capitol. The controversial speech, which resulted in several protests throughout Washington, saw several Democratic lawmakers skip out over the prime minister’s prolonged operations in the Middle East.

During that July visit, Trump hosted Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.
Israel, as the largest recipient of U.S. military aid, is expected to seek assurances that weapons deliveries will proceed without delays experienced during the previous administration. A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said, Netanyahu spoke newly cleared Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, on Sunday.
Additionally, Netanyahu is likely to encourage President Trump to increase pressure on Iran and to renew efforts toward a historic normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
