Loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara were conspicuously absent from the final list of cleared aspirants released by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the state House of Assembly primaries scheduled for Wednesday.
Among those excluded are former factional Speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo both regarded as key allies of the governor during the prolonged political crisis in the state.

Ihunwo had earlier been speculated to be the anointed candidate for Speaker before his disqualification.
Oko-Jumbo and Ihunwo, along with 65 other aspirants, were previously disqualified by the party’s screening committee. Although they petitioned the APC Screening Appeal Committee headed by Abdul Mahmud, no favourable outcome was communicated from the National Secretariat.

The APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Chibuike Ikenga, in a statement issued on Tuesday night, said the final list emanated from the party’s National Secretariat.
