The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken immediate steps to reform the state’s fiscal management by ordering a suspension of all revenue collection activities, particularly at motor parks and similar areas. This directive, announced just a day after his inauguration, reflects his commitment to ensuring fiscal discipline and transparency in revenue handling.

The state’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, confirmed the measure, emphasizing that law enforcement, including the State Police Commissioner, has been instructed to apprehend any individuals attempting to undermine or defy the order.

The suspension will remain in place until a comprehensive review of the revenue collection system is conducted, aimed at improving transparency and accountability.

Additionally, in a broader move to restructure governance, Governor Okpebholo has dissolved the Boards of all state Agencies and Parastatals and terminated the appointments of political appointees sourced externally from the public service.

This decisive action appears to be geared towards streamlining governance and enhancing the efficiency of state operations, according to the statement by the CPS on Wednesday.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the dissolution of Executives of all Boards, Agencies and Parastatals in Edo State Public Service with immediate effect.
