Director General ABLE, Comrade Destiny Madu made the clarion call a statement he personally signed and made available to Journalists in Abuja.
The statement titled ‘”carrion call to Northern leaders of thoughts, political leaders, business tycoons and all good meaning Nigerian of Northern extractions,” admonished Northerners to take their destiny in their hands so as to restore the lost glory of the region.
“The time has come that we must tell ourselves the truth. Once upon a time the North that now look like a burden to the whole nation was the pride of the nation.
“At that time the North fed the whole nation for decades. Funds for development projects across the country were generated from the North, more so, the Northern glory effected other African nations of the Sahel.

“Our groundnut pyramid made history for decades. The discovery of the oil in the South and East of Nigeria, that was a blessing to Nigeria, became a blessing and a curse in disguise to the North.
“The North became lazy and over dependent on the proceeds of the oil and greedy Northern elites corruptly enriched themselves from the proceeds of oil and abandon the development of the North.
“Today all companies built by the founding fathers are dead for more than four decades and evil seems to be grown and harvested in the once prosperous region.
I am compelled to call on the Northern youths and leaders of thought to please remember the sacrifices of our past leaders like Sir Ahmadu bello, Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Abubakar Rimi, Kangiwa, Barde and a host of others who thought less of themselves and more for better and a strong Northern Nigeria.
“The North is far richer than the South in terms of resources. The North only needs to go back to the drawing table, plan, sacrifice and do the needful in order to bounce back as soon as possible.
“If the elites wouldn’t do the needful, then children of the past leaders should rise up to the occasion, if possible, to the save the North from total destruction and collapse.

“With a strong and common front, insecurity currently raging in some parts of once peaceful region, will be curtailed.
“Without peace, there can be no meaningful development. Investors are now afraid of investing in the region as a result of insecurity.
“It is time to jettison political, social, cultural and religious differences and seek ways to save the region. Let us think about the future of our children. Let us leave a good legacy for posterity.
