House of Reps Condemns Kidnapping of PDP Treasurer, Others

The House of Representatives has condemned in strong terms the disappearance and kidnapping of one Mr. Enobong Williamson, a PDP ward treasurer, as well as other cases of kidnapping across the country which they said has left citizens at the mercy of abductors.

This condemnation is the sequel to a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised at plenary on Tuesday and entitled ‘the unfortunate kidnapping and disappearance of Mr. Enobong Williamson and the need for the Federal Government to intensify efforts in curbing the incessant kidnappings in Nigeria.’

The motion was raised by Hon. Unyime Idem, the lawmaker representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State.

Hon. Idem noted with concern and sadness the reoccurring incidences of incessant abduction, disappearance, and kidnapping going on across the country and most importantly and recently in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State.

“Unfortunately, the whole community was greeted with the sad news of the kidnapping and disappearance of Mr. Enobong Williamson who until his disappearance was the Treasurer, of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward 3, Oruk Anam LGA, Akwa Ibom State.

He further noted “that on the 3rd day of November 2022, Mr. Enobong Williamson was kidnapped by unknown men, and all attempts to locate him proved abortive. The entire community has since commenced a search for him, but no information has been obtained regarding his whereabouts.

The lawmaker expressed concern that the family and associates of Mr. Enobong Williamson have been thrown into traumatic experience and agony since his disappearance on the 3rd of November, 2022.

The House therefore unanimously resolved to condemn in strong terms the kidnapping and disappearance of Mr. Enobong Williamson and other incidences of kidnapping across the country, leaving the citizens at the mercy of the kidnappers and mandating the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other security agencies to intensify efforts in securing the release of Mr. Enobong Williamson from the den of kidnappers.
