The Akwa Ibom State, Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has approved the appointment of Obong Ide O. Owodiong-Idemeko, as Chairman, Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation, (AKICORP), ostensibly to drive new investments to open up the State, further.

This appointment was announced in a statement by Ekerete Udoh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Monday April 22, 2024.

Owodiong-Idemeko’s appointment as Chairman of AKICORP is generating significant enthusiasm among analysts and indigenes alike. His extensive professional background, particularly his tenure at ExxonMobil, signals a wealth of experience in various critical areas such as human resources, security, venture relations, and management.

Many jubilant indigenes have referenced the popular axiom “square-peg-in-square-hole” suggesting that his skill set aligns perfectly with the responsibilities of the position. His track record of working at top management levels across different continents also underscores his global perspective and ability to navigate diverse business environments.

Given Akwa Ibom State’s aspirations for economic growth and development, having someone with Owodiong-Idemeko’s caliber at the helm of AKICORP is indeed be a strategic move. Owodiong-Idemeko’s background in professional training and knowledge acquisition from various renowned institutions such as PeopleSoft University, Insead School of Business, and Thunderbird School of Global Management, among others, further highlights his commitment to continuous learning and development.
