The Advocate for Better Leadership and Sustainable Rural Development Initiative (ABLE) has declared support for Chief Seyi Tinubu, if he declares interest to contest the Lagos State governorship election in 2027.
They made it clear that Chief Seyi Tinubu’s participation is a constitutional right and and warned those who are opposing and criticising promoters of his ambition to desist in the interest of democracy and youth participation in politics.

ABLE in a press briefing in Abuja, organised by its Director General, Comrade Destiny Madu, dismissed criticisms over Chief Seyi Tinubu’s eligibility based on his familial ties to incumbent President Bola Tinubu or any other mundane considerations.
The CSO stated that “Chief Seyi Tinubu is a Nigerian citizen, and has the right to vote and be voted for, irrespective of his parentage, ethnicity or any other considerations. In democracy, it is electorates that have the final say.
“From his antecedents, Chief Seyi Tinubu possesses the capacity and experience to govern Lagos state. As a business man of repute and philanthropist, he is intelligent, and articulate to shoulder the responsibilities of leadership at any level.
“We call on all lovers of democracy to rally round Chief Seyi Tinubu, who we are convinced, is very prepared, equipped, and ready to take Lagos State to an enviable heights if elected governor in 2027,” the statement added.
“We call on the youths nationwide, to emulate Chief Seyi Tinubu, come out enmass and vie for any elective position of their choice. Time has come for the youths to take back the country from old politicians, who seems to lack fresh ideas on how to move the country forward

“Going forward, we equally urge President Tinubu and other stakeholders involved in organising elections in the country, to ensure a level playing field for all, that would usher free, fair and transparent elections.
The group maintained that political dynasties are not strange to Africa and advanced democracy such as the United States of America.
“Political dynasties can thrive in the country as long as the electoral umpire remains transparent.
“Nobody should be afraid of any member of Tinubu’s family joining politics. Dynasties exist in varying degrees regardless of the level of democracy. The current leader of DR Congo Joseph Kabila, is the son of the assassinated President Laurent Kabila, the long–time president of Togo, Gnassingbe Eyadema was succeeded by his son Faure Gnassingbe.
“ In Kenya, the country’s current head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta is the son of Jomo, the country’s independence leader and first President, to mention but a few.
“This is not just an African phenomenon. In Asia, there are political dynasties in South Korea, Singapore, India, Pakistan and the Philippines, among others. This is a worldwide trend.

“Former US First Lady Nancy Bush once remarked that she was seated between two presidents; her husband and her son. Both were presidents. There is also the Kennedy family.
“Children often adopt the vocation of their parents on their own initiative or at the encouragement of their parents.
Recall that ABLE has been at forefront of championing good governance in the country. In 2018, the Group dragged the 36 States Governors and Speakers of State House of Assemblies to Court, demanding local government autonomy.
