The Olu of Warri made the commendation while receiving the entourage of the new African Special Envoy on Youth in his palace in Warri recently, urging Amb. Prince Aganaba to excel in his new role, leveraging his remarkable abilities to drive positive change and uplift the lives of African youth.

Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to supporting youth welfare and well-being, the Olu of Warri emphasized the value of collaborative efforts in driving meaningful change, just as he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Amb. Prince Aganaba for the thoughtful gifts presented to him, saying he was deeply touched by the sincere sentiments and kind gesture behind the gifts.

Earlier, the visiting African Special Envoy on Youth, Amb. Prince Iwefa Aganaba had expressed his gratitude to the revered traditional ruler of the Itsekiri people, adding that he was delighted to find a strong alignment between his for vision for the African youth and the royal father’s tireless advocacy for empowering youth to foster sustainable development while promoting enlightenment.

Amb. Prince Aganaba described the Royal Iwere Foundation (RIF) as a visionary initiative that addresses critical challenges in education, empowerment, and environmental sustainability with a steadfast commitment to uplifting the communities of the Niger Delta region, describing the foundation as a shining example across the African continent.

It is on record that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has been instrumental in promoting peace, unity, and development within the Warri Kingdom and beyond. He has also been a strong advocate for the preservation of Itsekiri culture and traditions.

Under his leadership, Warri Kingdom has witnessed significant growth and transformation, with various initiatives aimed at empowering youths, promoting education, and enhancing the overall well-being of the Itsekiri people and Warri kingdom. Ogiame Atuwatse III is widely respected for his wisdom, vision, and commitment to the development of his people.

The Commonwealth event hosted by His Excellency, Amb. Prince Aganaba was a significant milestone, marking the 50th anniversary of the Commonwealth Youth Programme. This programme was established to support young people under 30 in reaching their full potential, and its anniversary coincided with the Commonwealth’s declaration of 2023 as the Year of Youth.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Commonwealth Secretariat mandated Amb. Prince Aganaba to host the event, which aimed to promote youth-led action for sustainable and inclusive development. The event was designed to bring together young people, change-makers, and governments to put youth issues at the centre of the global agenda and empower participants to advocate for positive change.

The Commonwealth Youth Programme has been supporting member countries with youth development work for five decades, and its 50th anniversary marked a significant moment in the organization’s history. With over 60% of the Commonwealth’s 2.5 billion population under the age of 30, the programme’s work is more crucial than ever in empowering young people to reach their full potential.
