‎ Popular Nigerian rapper AbagaJude Lemfani Abaga has taken his first big step in acting, playing a role in long anticipated Nigerian animation ensemble titled ‘Gammy And The Living Things’. The movie is expected to be in cinemas across Nigeria from September 5 2025.

AbagaJude Lemfani Abaga, born 4 October, 1981, known professionally as M.I. Abaga or M.I, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He gained recognition with “Crowd Mentality” home box movie in 2006.

‎MI plays Gammy, a young agama lizard who dreams of a bigger life outside his small ecosystem. The story mixes fun, music and lessons showing Gammy’s journey to Lagos where he faces struggles but eventually discovers new opportunities.

‎The film also features dominant screen acts like legendary Joke Silva, ace comedian Bovi Ugboma and evergreen Nollywood actor Pete Edochie, making the cast full of well-known faces in the Nollywood industry and international stage lights.

‎ Kene Okwuosa CEO of Filmhouse Group, the brain behind the project disclosed that the film is part of their bigger plan to grow Nollywood and give it more international attention. According to him, ‘Gammy And The Living Things’ is another step in showing African creativity and giving it a veritable platform to express itself, which is indeed, deserving.

Speaking about the film, Victoria Ogar, the Head of Distribution at FilmOne Entertainment said the project proves that Nigerian stories can connect with the world while still keeping their African roots. She explained that this medium of animation is a testament that Africa can create movies that stand strong on the big screens.

‎Many movie enthusiasts say the upcoming movie will be one of the biggest animated films in Nigeria, with potential to capture global spotlight.

Movie buffs can view the premier of ‘Gammy & The Living Things; in cinemas across the country.
