The Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, Major General Kevin Aligbe, has urged candidates of the Nigerian Army 2023 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination to shun any form of examination malpractices that will undermine the sanctity and integrity of the standards of examination in the Nigerian Army.

General Aligbe made the call recently while addressing Army candidates for the examination at the Lieutenant General AO Ihejirika Auditorium in Jaji Military Cantonment near Kaduna.

In a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Department (APRD), stated that the TRADOC Commander who is also the Examination President, reminded the candidates on the consequences and accompanying sanctions that such unwholesome act would attract. He also noted that the examination, aside from being a major prerequisite to attend the Senior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji and any other subscribed Staff Colleges overseas, is also criteria for promotion to the rank of Major in the Nigerian Army.

Furthermore, the Examination President expressed that the examination is aimed at evaluating the proficiency of the officers of the rank of Captain while developing their junior leadership capabilities in the Nigerian Army, noting that the exercise also helps the Army authority to produce problem-solving officers at a time when the nation is facing current security challenges, which has been amply captured in the vision of the Chief of Army Staff ‘s command philosophy. He said that is why the examination cannot be discountenanced as one of the key determinants in the career progression of the young officers.

General Aligbe disclosed that the examination template is geared towards effective training and re-training of personnel in all Nigerian Army training institutions with a view to producing well trained, highly professional and all-roundly motivated manpower for the Nigerian Army in line with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy whose essence is “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well – Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment”.

The TRADOC Commander therefore urged the candidates to do their best and assured them of equity, fairness, objectivity and transparency of the Examination Panel/ Directing Staff in the conduct of the Examination.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General OO Oloyode urged the candidates to put in their best and maintain the sanctity and integrity of the examination even as he described the exercise as a career pathway with emphasis on Counter Terrorism and Insurgency Operations among others.

The event was attended by observers from Army Headquarters, Principal Staff officers from Headquarters TRADOC Nigerian Army, Headquarters Infantry Corps and Centre, some military formations around Kaduna, Members of the Examination Panel and Directing Staff among others.
