Nigerian Army 81 Battalion Troops Graduate from NATRAC After 12 Weeks Intensive Training

The Nigerian Army has graduated troops from the 81 Battalion after their intensive training at the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) Kontagora, Niger State, nicknamed “EX FAST BOLT.”

The 12-week training program, which ended with the graduation of the troops on Saturday November, 2023; covered both conventional and asymmetric warfare, which unarguably is a significant step in enhancing the skills and competency of the troops for operational engagements.

In line with deploying the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and his manifesting commitment to improving the Nigerian Army’s capabilities and readiness, there’s the imperative for constant training. Hence the COAS’ approval for this training is roundly commendable, as it is essential for addressing the various security challenges facing the country and also, apprise the troops with modern operational standards of military engagements cutting across several security mandates.

TRADOC Commander, Maj. General KO Aligbe, who represented the COAS, Lt. Gen. T Lagbaja, at the 81 Battalion Graduation from NATRAC on Saturday Nov. 4.

Addressing the graduating troops, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, who was represented by Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Kevin O Aligbe, emphasized that the dedication to producing highly skilled and competent manpower for operational engagements is a significant step towards achieving the Nigerian Army’s constitutional responsibilities.

He said “It is a commendable effort to address the security threats affecting the country and contribute to a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.”

Importantly, he expressed that the support and encouragement provided by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are vital for the success of such training initiatives, noting that the emphasis on closing observed gaps in operations through focused and adaptive training reflects a commitment to improving the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness in maintaining security.

During the graduation ceremony, a side event of the official commissioning of the NATRAC Fire Station took place, which is gleaned as a positive development, demonstrating the commitment to safety and security, not only within the cantonment but also in the broader community. It’s important to create a safe and secure environment to promote socio-economic development in Nigeria.

The TRADOC Commander, Maj. General Aligbe, who represented the COAS, highlighted that the training was a commendable effort by Army authorities under the pragmatic leadership of the COAS, Lt. General Lagbaja to address the security threats affecting the country and contribute to a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

Earlier the Commander Nigerian Army training Centre Training (Army), Maj Gen LT Omoniyi in his welcome address, thanked the COAS for the opportunity and assured him that the Centre will continue to train troops in line with his command philosophy.

The presence of dignitaries, including Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters, Heads of Security Agencies in Kontagora, Representative of Sarkin Sudan, Alhaji Barau mu’azu and the Emir of Kontagora, adds significance to the ceremony, and their participation underscores the importance of the event.
