Prominent Nigerians, political associates, and supporters have flooded social media and issued statements to celebrate former Senate President and two-term Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, as he marks his birthday on Thursday, December 19, 2025.
The Saraki Movement for Positive Change (SMPC), a nationwide political support group operational in all 36 states, led the tributes with a glowing statement describing Saraki as a “statesman of distinction” whose life exemplifies dedication to democratic governance, national unity, and people-centred leadership.
In a release signed by its Founder/National Coordinator, Amb. Olalekan Abdulganiyu Abolarin, the SMPC hailed Saraki’s transformative eight-year tenure as Governor of Kwara State (2003–2011), noting his strategic investments in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment that became benchmarks for subnational governance.
The group particularly praised his leadership of the 8th Senate (2015–2019), calling it one of the most productive in Nigeria’s history and crediting him with defending legislative independence, championing landmark reforms in electoral processes, anti-corruption, ease of doing business, and social welfare.
“His resilience in the face of challenges inspired millions of Nigerians, particularly young people, to believe in politics as a noble platform for service rather than personal gain,” the statement read.
The SMPC reaffirmed that its mission to promote inclusive leadership, social justice, youth participation, and democratic accountability draws direct inspiration from Saraki’s legacy.
Other notable figures joined the celebrations: Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described Saraki as “a distinguished leader whose contributions to Kwara and Nigeria remain indelible.”
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called him “a true democrat and bridge-builder.”

Several PDP chieftains and cross-party allies echoed prayers for his continued health and service to the nation.
