Abeokuta, Ogun State – September 15, 2026

A group known as Ogun West Concerned Stakeholders has released a press statement questioning the origin and eligibility of APC Ogun governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
In the statement signed by the group, they described the senator as “a jester” and challenged him to make public the state of origin he declared in his first INEC records.
“It is laughable that the Media handlers of Senator Solomon Adeola, one time Sulaiman Ogunleye, want to put him in more trouble by being tactless,” the statement read.

The group raised questions about alleged inconsistencies in the senator’s political records.
“If it is difficult to trace the State of Origin he had claimed from the Word Go, would it still be difficult to trace the state of origin he filled in his first INEC form, backed with a court Affidavit, as a State House of Assembly candidate, as a House of Representatives candidate and as a senatorial candidate, all in Lagos State?
At what point did his state of origin suddenly change to Ogun State? Our courts will do the Ogun State people a big favour by determining the consequences of giving contradictory information under Oath.”
The stakeholders said the questions are not from one individual but are matters of public interest bordering on “the integrity, identity, history and political future of Ogun State, particularly Ogun West.”

They also addressed reports that Senator Yayi has threatened legal action against those questioning his antecedents.
“We welcome the court with an open mind. If he believes that the courts are the appropriate avenue to settle these questions, then he should prepare himself for the legal battles ahead.
Taking stakeholders to court does not make the questions disappear. Rather, it provides an opportunity for all the relevant documents, affidavits, electoral records and claims made under oath to be placed before the appropriate authorities for scrutiny.”
The group insisted that many stakeholders are ready to defend their positions and present evidence in court.

“The time is finally here for the truth to be revealed. For too long, questions surrounding political identity, antecedents and claims made at different stages of public life have been treated as matters that can be brushed aside with political statements or media attacks. This time, Ogun people deserve clarity.”
They concluded:
“We are not afraid of intimidation, media propaganda or threats of litigation. OGUN WEST CONCERNED STAKEHOLDERS believes that the truth has no political party, no ethnic colouration and no permanent enemy.
Let the documents speak. Let the records speak. Let the affidavits speak. Let the law speak. And above all, let the truth speak.”
