The revered King of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (the Ọjájá II) CFR, who is the 51st and current traditional ruler and monarch of the Yoruba people of Ile Ife, Nigeria, praised the federal government for the establishment of Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS), aimed at containing crimes in the forest.

The monarch specially thanked President Bola Tinubu for recognizing the role that traditional rulers can play as veritable partners in the national scene to reduce crimes perpetrated by bandits who use forest resources as operational grounds. He highlighted that the efforts will encourage more traditional rulers to support the government overall security apparatus and safety strategies.
The king recently met with the head of NFSS, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin and his team on a spot assessment encounter. Osatimehin brief the King, noting that NFSS has over 18,000 forest guards in the southern part of Nigeria, presently. He promised that they would work relentlessly to stop crimes in the forest and thanked the king for his support.

The king assured NFSS team that community leaders would do their part in helping to keep the forests safe. Osatimehin also applauded his operatives, urging them to work well with other security agencies and be proactive in their duties
Going forward, the NFSS boss disclosed that there are plans to acquire modern security equipment and also, ensure their welfare to boost their morale to go after the criminals hiding in the nations forest and apprehend and bring them to face justice.
