At the gathering, youths appealed to the candidates to prioritize young people in governance, saying past representatives in the National Assembly and Senate had focused more on older generations and neglected the youth.
They urged Hon. Tomo to look inward and design programs that will empower young constituents.
Women leaders also used the occasion to drum up support for Engr. Agemo-Okuboyejo, the PDP House of Representatives candidate. They prayed for her success at the polls and said her emergence would mark the beginning of stronger women’s representation from Ado-Odo/Ota in the Green Chamber.

An elder statesman from the community, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the best House of Representative member so far is Hon. Tomo in Ado-Odo/Ota. He said Tomo’s decision to run for Senate is why he chose to work with PDP, citing Tomo’s track record and his criticism of the former House of Representative member Hon, Jimoh Ojugbele. The elder statesman alleged that Ojugbele had done nothing in previous elections and had a reputation for buying votes, which he described as an insult to the community. He urged attendees to reject Ojugbele and support Hon. Tomo for the senatorial seat, saying he would do his best to ensure Tomo emerges victorious in Constituency 1 and Constituency 2.
Party leaders present praised the two candidates. The PDP National Leader in Ado-Odo/Ota, Chief Kabiru Salako, popularly known as Jagbadu, described Tomo and Agemo-Okuboyejo as the best candidates for the constituency. He urged them to remain visible, print campaign materials and souvenirs, and mobilize fully ahead of the general election.
Chief Salako criticized the ruling party for being uncoordinated and urged PDP members to take advantage of the situation and work for victory. He also called for unity among all candidates and party faithful, saying the party must move past primary election grievances and focus on winning.

The Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Oluwasegun Shuaib, praised all the candidates and greeted members in attendance. Hon. Shuaib pleaded on behalf of the House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Chief Abayomi Omoroga, for his absence, explaining it was due to circumstances beyond his control. He informed attendees that there should be three in this tour, but Hon. Omoroga had already commenced his own tour. Hon. Shuaib apologized on his behalf and requested that they allow him to continue with his tour, emphasizing that this was not a sign of division but part of the party’s progress. He stated that the right thing to do was to work towards winning in 2027.
Hon. Shuaib also acknowledged the presence of both candidates and stressed the need for the party to fight for victory since they are the opposition. He urged everyone to do their best to ensure the party wins the coming election, saying, “We cannot continue to stay outside anymore.”
