The defection of Hon. Oluwaseyi Ayantola Ojugbele from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sparked a fresh political controversy in Ado-Odo/Ota, with the PDP Youth Wing questioning the move and making allegations about his political record.
Hon. Oluwaseyi Ayantola Ojugbele officially left the Peoples Democratic Party on September 20, 2026.
Ojugbele, who was the PDP candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency 1 in the 2023 Ogun State House of Assembly election, recently announced his defection to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reacting to his move, the PDP Youth Wing said Ojugbele’s departure did not come as a surprise, insisting that he had not been actively involved in the party’s activities.
The group also alleged that Ojugbele was previously entrusted with funds for his election and party agents but allegedly diverted ₦19.6 million for personal use.
The PDP Youth Wing, however, did not provide evidence of the alleged diversion in the statement. The allegation could not independently be verified at the time of reporting.
The group also criticised the APC for welcoming Ojugbele into its fold, questioning his record and character while contrasting him with his father, Oba Dr. Samuel Ojugbele, the Onilogbo of Ilogbo Kingdom.

The PDP maintained that Ojugbele’s defection should not be regarded as a major loss to the party, saying it remained focused on the 2027 elections.
The group further presented Hon. Abayomi Omoroga as its preferred candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency 1 and called on residents to support him, as well as Oladipupo Adebutu and other PDP candidates across Ogun State.
Ojugbele announced his decision during a political realignment meeting in Ogun West, where he confirmed his move to join the All Progressives Congress. Ojugbele, who was the PDP candidate for the Ota State Constituency in the 2023 House of Assembly election, pitched his tent with the APC’s “Yayi Train” led by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) ahead of the 2027 general election.
