The Concerned PDP Forum, a prominent support group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly condemned a six-point agenda proposed by former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing it as an attempt to destabilize the party. The forum’s National Chairman, Comrade Odih Afe Rowland, called out the Minister, reiterating his group’s commitment to upholding the PDP’s Constitution and supporting the party’s leadership to accomplish a successful outing in upcoming national convention.

In a statement issued in Abuja, on Tuesday, the forum criticized Wike, who is known not to any official position within the PDP, for pushing an agenda that it claims undermines the party’s unity and established processes. Since its formation in 2016, the group has a verifiable history of pushing against anti-party forces as it did during the inglorious period when erstwhile Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff enmeshed the party in crisis. The group has not shied away from defending the Party during internal conflicts and has vowed this time, again, to resist any efforts to disrupt the party’s stability.

“Mr. Nyesom Wike, as an ordinary member of the PDP, lacks the authority to impose a six-point agenda or dictate the party’s direction,” Rowland stated.

“The Supreme Court has affirmed the PDP’s constitutional framework and the National Executive Committee (NEC) has approved the national convention, endorsed by National Chairman Ambassador Umar Ilyas Damagum and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu. We stand firmly behind the party’s leadership and its organs”, noted the Forum.

The forum’s statement comes in the wake of a stakeholders’ meeting convened by Wike on September 1, 2025, where he unveiled a controversial six-point agenda which he claimed was aimed at addressing internal party issues. However, the agenda has sparked harsh rebuttals, with the Concerned PDP Forum accusing Wike and his allies of attempting to subvert the party’s democratic processes. The group clarified that while it had previously supported Senator Anyanwu in defending the PDP’s constitution, it now opposes Wike’s actions, which it views as contrary to the party’s interests.

The PDP’s national convention has been scheduled and will hold at a date to be announced by the Party leadership. The decision is seen as a critical step toward unifying the party and preparing for the 2027 general elections. The Concerned PDP Forum called on Wike to respect the party’s constitution and challenged him to seek legal redress if he disagrees with the NEC’s decisions. “If Mr. Wike believes his agenda supersedes the party’s constitutional provisions, let him meet us in court,” Rowland declared.

The forum urged PDP members and stakeholders nationwide to rally behind the party’s leadership and support the upcoming convention. “We call on all lovers of the PDP to unite in defense of our party’s principles of fairness, equity, and internal democracy,” the statement read.

“Together, we can ensure that the PDP remains a strong and united force for the Nigerian people.”

The controversy surrounding Wike’s agenda highlights ongoing tensions within the PDP, which has faced internal challenges in recent years. Political analysts suggest that the outcome of this dispute could shape the party’s trajectory as it seeks to reposition itself as a formidable opposition force.
