Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has once again indicated his strong intention to run for president in the 2027 general elections, declaring that he remains committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative to the current administration.

In a series of interviews and public appearances over the past week (January 2026), Obi currently aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after his high-profile defection from the LP reaffirmed his readiness to contest, saying the country’s challenges have only deepened and require “serious, disciplined leadership.”

Speaking at a youth forum in Enugu on January 25, 2026, Obi stated: “I have not hidden my intention. If the Nigerian people still believe I can help bring the change we all desire transparency, accountability, fiscal discipline, youth inclusion, and national unity I will run again in 2027. The work is not done. The suffering is still too much. I am ready.”

The former Anambra State Governor and businessman emphasized that his decision would be guided by consultations with stakeholders, civil society, and ordinary Nigerians, but made it clear that he is actively preparing for another national campaign.

Obi’s statement has reignited national conversation about opposition strategy, zoning, and whether the ADC can become a viable third force or merge with other parties.

The former governor continues to enjoy widespread support online, with #PeterObi2027 trending across platforms following his latest remarks.
