Award-winning comedian, skit maker and social media influencer Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, has been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury on Sunday afternoon in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts and police sources, the incident occurred under the Sango-Ota bridge while Broda Shaggy was filming a comedy skit. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the content creator was rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in Alakuko, Lagos, for initial treatment.

“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source said.
Further checks revealed that Broda Shaggy was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area (GRA), Ikeja, Lagos, where he is currently receiving treatment and recovering. Attempts to reach officials at both hospitals for confirmation were unsuccessful due to unreachable phone numbers listed on their social media profiles.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident, stating that the hospital alerted the police about a gunshot victim.
“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where we discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy. He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Oluseyi Babaseyi, however, stated that the incident had not been formally reported to the command.
“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported,” he said.

Efforts to reach Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu (known as Penzaar), for comment were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered.
