The Edo State government has announced the resumption of schools across the state on September 8, 2025, signaling the commencement of a new academic year. The notice advised all primary and secondary schools in the state, both public and private, respectively, resume today.
The Ministry of Education disclosed that normal academic activities will commence immediately and students are expected to be in school on time.

The government warned parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school promptly, saying that it has inaugurated a monitoring task force against loitering of students during school hours and parents of culprits would face sanctions.
To ensure compliance to the new directive, the Ministry said it will send special team to monitor schools. These team do round the clock check on schools to ascertain attendance.
The Ministry advised parents, guardians and school administrators to cooperate with the monitoring team to achieve the objective of a smooth academic year, enabling the students to settle back into school curricular.
